K. Srikanth was delighted with the way he won, not giving any easy points and playing to his strength.
“I must say everything went right for me in the final,” he said, speaking to The Hindu .
Special win
“It is special for sure, coming up against someone like Chen who has been playing so well.”
“I was normal before the final. Didn’t feel any pressure at all. My approach was simple — to keep the shuttle in play, not to miss scoring chances and not make too many unforced errors.
“I am glad it worked well and would like to thank coach Mulyo [Handoyo],” he said.
“This is the best phase in my career at the highest-level and winning three Superseries is something which I would cherish forever,” he said.
“It is great for Indian badminton that Praneeth, Prannoy and I have done so well in this last one month. It shows the kind of ability we have. Personally, I would love to be more consistent,” said Srikanth.
“Three Superseries titles ahead of World Championships is a huge morale booster and I will have to work really hard to win a medal there,” he said.
Srikanth said the Australian Open title was for “all those who supported him right through, including Mulyo, Gopi sir, fellow players and those unsung staff at Gopi Academy.”
