Olympic gold medallist Abhinav Bindra on Friday announced a partnership with GoSports Foundation to support young Indian shooters in the country.

Bindra’s foundation will work in association with GoSports for the development of sport and would be supporting deserving shooters. They will together conduct joint programmes to train young shooters.

The joint programmes will include scholarships for selected shooters, development workshops for coaches and shooters, as well as mentorship from Abhinav Bindra, a press release said.

It said that high quality shooting equipment will be provided free of cost to select shooters.

Bindra, who will join the Board of Advisors of GoSports Foundation, said, “I am excited to partner with the GoSports Foundation as I feel that my ideas for Indian sports resonate well with the work they have done and the programmes they have planned. Through the joint programmes in shooting development, we hope to establish a strong athlete mentorship programme for young shooters, and help these youngsters realise their true potential.”

Nandan Kamath, the Managing Trustee of the GoSports Foundation said, “Having access to the support and expertise of Abhinav Bindra, with whom we share a vision for Indian sport, is certainly going to help us make valuable contributions to the lives of talented young shooters.”

The Abhinav Bindra Foundation, founded in 2009, has been working towards grassroots level development of sports in India.

The GoSports Foundation is a non-profit venture primarily focused on the development of India’s best and most promising junior Olympic and Paralympic athletes.
