Indian women grapplers continued their listless performance at the World wrestling Championships here as Navjot Kaur and Jyoti bowed out of the competition on Friday.

Silver medallist at the Asian Championships, Navjot made a promising start thrashing Gilda de Oliveira (Brazil) 11-4 in the opening bout of the 67kg section. But Navjot was shown the door by Leidy Mendez (Colombia) 9-0.

In the 72kg category, Jyoti laboured hard against Yaemin Adar (Turkey). She was locked in a spirited battle at 5-9 before the Turkish delivered a knockout manoeuvre.

Meanwhile, in a 55kg Greco-Roman bout, Gaurav Sharma lost to Orkhan Ahmadov (Azerbaijan) in the last-16.

After a first round bye, Sharma had floored Greece’s Lazaros Karathanasis 8-0 through a technical superiority in the second round.
