23.10 Right folks. That's about that from me on day 6 of the Games. See you all at about 08:30 IST tomorrow.

23.07 Rodionovo-Peers pip Sania-Rushmi 6-4, 6-4 in the women's doubles semifinal

23: 05 Australia leading India 5-4 in the second set

22:55 Australia have broken back to take a 4-3 lead in the second set.

22:50 India have got the break they wanted and have levelled things at 3-3 in the second set.

22:41 Australia are leading 2-1 and are serving at 15-15 in the second set.

22:35 Australia have taken the first set, up a break in the second and are leading 30-15 on their serve 1-0.

22:16 Australia are ahead 5-3 in the first set.

22:02 Action in the women's doubles. Sania Mirza and Rushmi Chakravarthi of India against Rodionovo and Peers of Australia. And the Australians are already up a break and will be serving for a 4-2 lead in the first set. This, of course, is for a place in the women's doubles final.

21:54 And that's about. No more goals but India worthy winners against and the final scoreline of 4-0 is not flattering.

21:50 India on the look-out for more goals against Scotland and they go on a brilliant counter and get a penalty corner for their troubles but the corner comes to nothing.

21:46Better news. India have put the match to bed against Scotland with two quick second-half goals. Just about 10 minutes to for the hooter to sound.

21:45Unbelievable. Obed Mbwakongo beats Dinesh Kumar on the very last second. It finishes 9-8 in favour of Obed. That, I think, is the first time an Indian boxer has lost this week.

21:42 Mbwakongo had a 2 point lead briefly but Dinesh fight back to equal things at 8 apiece.

21:40 Mbwakongo has fought back. Down 5-3 early on, he's come back with two unanswered points to level things at 5-5.

21:36 Australia takes the gold in the men's doubles. England, fighting back after the early setback, will have to do with a silver. I have lost count of the number of times Australia have beaten England to the gold this week.

21:33 More boxing action. Dinesk Kumar of India in action against Obed Mbwakongo of England. And Kumar is ahead 3-1 in the first round.

21:26 Singapore have beaten England in the final of the men's team table tennis event to take the gold. England have yet another silver medal.

21:25 Back under way at the Hockey stadium and India have continued in the same vein but are enjoying same wretched luck in front of goal.

21:15 In an engrossing game in the men's doubles final between England and Australia, it is 3-2 in the third set.

21:10 Mahesh Bhupathi and Leander Paes have won their bronze medal against Rohan Bopanna and Somdev Devvarman

21:10 At half-time, it's India two, Scotland nil.

21:06 Controlling the ball on the end of the stick, like how Lionel Messi would control a ball on the end of his boot, an Indian player goes on a delightful little run before cutting back. But the cut back flies away from the danger area. India are putting all the pressure but the Scots are just about withstanding it. Will India come back to rue the missed opportunities?

21:00 It's still advantage India as they maintain the 2-0 lead but they will be wondering why they have not extended their advantage - part of the reason being the Scots goalkeeper, who has been in blinding form. Five more minutes for the first-half to finish.

20:54 India should have been sout of sight but a mixture of profilgacy and brilliance from the Scottish keeper is keeping them in the game

20:50 Australia's Fabrice Lapierre wins gold in men's long jump.

20:44 India's Monika Devi gets bronze in the women's 57 kg weightlifting category. Nigeria's Hadiza Zakari wins gold.

20:43 Oh... it is an Own Goal for India. A powerful drive across goal is turned in from just near the goal-line. Disaster for Scotland but India won't mind one bit. India 2-0 Scotland

20:38 A Scotland player dallies in front of his D and gets punished. India drive in and the ball hits the post before going in. India 1-0 Scotland

20:37 The Indian women's hockey team, in spite of beating South Africa 3-1, have not qualified for the semifinals.

20:33 India have started their men's hockey match against Scotland in pretty solid fashion. Will keep an eye out for this one.

20:20 In the women's javelin throw, South Africa's Sunette Viljoen wins the gold.

20:18 India have beaten South Africa 3-1 in women's hockey.

Akhil Kumar of course is competing in the bantam-weight category and thanks to his victory against Weaver, he's reached the last eight.

20:15 Bahamas' Donald Thomas gets the gold in the men's high jump.

20:13 England's Louise Hazel wins gold in the heptathlon.

20:11 Akhil Kumar wins the bout 11-6.

20:06 is that it for Weaver? Akhil leads the bout 9-4 as we go into the third round.

20:05 Akhil is now up 6-4 but Weaver is well in this tie.

20:02 Akhil gets a crucial one point lead just before the 10 seconds mark and prefers to wait for the first round to end. It's 4-3 in Akhil favour. By the way, he's up against Weaver of England.

20:00 The crowd is getting into the action with chants of "Akhil, Akhil". The first stanza is 1-1 with about 40 seconds to go.

19:59 Boxing action. Akhil Kumar of India in action against a competitor from England.

I have finally got my abacus in order and India are in second place but it cannot be any close.

India have 24 gold medals to England's 23

19:40 What a match in prospect. Paes-Bhupathi up against Devvarman-Bopanna. Such a shame that this is for the bronze medal match.

19:18 What a way to lose what was a very good game of tennis. Sania double-faults on the tenth serve in the tie-break to give Rodionova the gold medal. Fantastic effort from both girls.

19:17 Defeaning silence engulfs the crowd as Sania gives Rodionova three more match-points. The Australian is leading 6-3 in the tie-break

19:15 Rodionova holding a slender 4-3 lead in the tie-break.

19:12 Kenya gets a couple of gold medals on the track. First up Milcah Cheywa gets gold in the women's 3000 mtr steeplechase. Then Mark Muttai gets the gold in the men's 400 mtrs. Infact, in the women's 3,000 mtr steeplechase, the Kenyans do a cleans sweep - 1,2,3.

19:09 That was almost the moment for Sania. Sania works her way to a game point but the sheer persistence of Rodionova helps her to haul back lost causes back into Sania's court. But Sania can't keep her cool and hits the return into the net. Moments later Sania serves a timely ace to bring about a third set tie-break.

19:06 Sania saves another match point as the return from Rodionova - who is firmly in the baseline - hits the net on the first bounce.

19:05 Gutsy from Sania. She's struggling 0-30 on her serve but comes back to win three points before losing her way a bit to hand Rodionova another match point. But keeps her cool in a rally to dispatch a smash down the line to stay in the match.

18:58 Rodionova does not have any trouble in holding on to her serve and closes it out 6-5. Sania wil lserve to stay in the match.

18:55 An awesome couple of points from Sania, who levels the third set 5-5.

18:50 Sania is hanging in there, refusing to lie down. Buoyed on by the crowd, she breaks Rodionova to give herself an opportunity to level the match 5-5.

(See 18:10) I can confirm that Emily Seebohm has indeed won eight medals in these games. Fantastic achievement from the 18 year old. Yes, she's just 18.

18:48 Sania saves a championships point and pumps the fists. It's 5-3 to the Australian.

18:46 Distribution of medals time again. Valerie Adams of New Zealand wins the women's shot put gold. Sinvie Boltic of Nigeria wins gold in the men's 96 kg freestyle wrestling category

18:42 India have taken the lead against South Africa in women's hockey.

18:36 After Rodionova breaks Sania for a 4-2 lead, Sania does the same to shrink the lead to 4-3. Sania now with the chance to serve to level things in the third set.

18:29 Rodionova breaks Sania back in the fourth game to tie the set at 2-2.

18:26 Australia takes the gold with South Africa just snatching away the silver away from England, which finish with the bronze.

18:25 Huegill, great story and all that, swims third for Australia and is extending the lead. But there is a good, old battile going on for the silver and bronze

18:22 It takes just two glides for Rickard to put Australia in the lead. Amazing stuff.

18:21 Liam Tancock gives England an early lead but Australia are not far behind.

18:19 The last and final swim is under way at the Swimming Complex. The men's 4X100 mtr medley. You know the routine, right? Australia are the overwhelming favourites. But let's just take in the sounds as the finale to an amazing six days of swimming comes to an end.

18:16 And Sania breaks Rodionova to win the first game of the third set. Morale-boosting.

18:14 Indian fans pardon me for not telling this to youe earlier. Sania has just taken the second set and has a break point against the Rodionova serve in the first game of the third set.

18:13 Just been informed that gold was Coutts's fifth gold of these games. Amazing performance from the green and gold brigade. Meanwhile, that was Leisel Jones's tenth gold in CWG history.

18:10 Is that Emily Seebohm's eight medal of these games?

18:08 Australia sweeps the field and gets the gold in the women's 4X100 mtr medley. England gets the silver while Canada settles for the bronze.

18:07 Francesca Halsall vs Alicia Coutts but Australia has about a three second lead.

18:05 Isn't she majestic? Leisel Jones... Amazing turn of pace after touching the wall and leaves Kate Haywood for dead. Australia has a 3 second lead.

18:04 Seebohm of Australia gives Australia the early lead.

18:02 Action in the pool. It's the women's 4X100 medley. Australia are the red-hot favourites. At least let's favour the swimming prowess of Leisel Jones and Alicia Coutts for one last time. Oh, and their's also Emily Seebohm. Mouthwatering has a new definition.

I think India have won their 24th gold thanks to that gold from Yadav.

My abacus skills are letting me down again. I will get back to you on the medals table as soon as possible.

17:57 Pancham Yadav of India wins gold in the men's 74 kg wrestling category.

17:53 India's Pancham Yadav wins the first stanza 2-0 against his opponent from South Africa in the final of the men's 74 kg wrestling category.

17:47 Sania has lost the first set to Rodionova. In the second, she has the early break and will serve for a 3-1 lead.

17:41 Just two more swim finals to complete the swimming itinerary of the day and these games as well.

17:39 An outstanding race from Ryan Cochrane of Canada and he takes the gold. Herman does a valiant effort to catch but finishes in second for a silver. Fogg of England, some ten seconds later, comes home to complete the top three. Top class swimming from Cochrane

17:37 Cochrane is the Ferrari, H. Herman - second placed man - is in the Mclaren while everyone else has the Minardi as Cochrane and Herman have just blown away the field. Cochrane has a 1.5 second lead over Herman with 150 mtrs to go.

17:35 Are Canada swimming towards a third swimming gold today? Cochrane still holds the first place with 350 metres to go.

17:32 Canada's Ryan Cochrane leads with about 850 mtrs of the 1500 mtrs done. But David Davies of Wales is lurking in the shadows - not literally of course.

17:31 Sania is in all sorts of trouble against the Australian Rodionova. Sania is serving to stay in the first set (trailing 5-3)

The action has started in the men's 1,500 mtr freestyle. That could take a while to finish.

Back into the SP Mukherjee Swimming Complex.

17:23 And Yogeshwar Dutt has done it. Always in control and never rattled. Yogeshwar Dutt wins gold. Mancini settles for the silver.

17:21 Yogeshwar now leading 4-1 and is looking gold.

17:20 Yogeshwar leading 1-0 in the second but Mancini refuses to lie down and attack Yogeshwar's heavily strapped right knee. But ti coems to nothing as the strong defences of Yogeshwar come to his rescue.

17:19 Some fierce pushing going on and Yogeshwar finally pushes Mancini out to get one more point. But Mancini gets back into the round with a point but it's too little too late as Yogeshwar takes the first stanza 3-1.

17:18 Yogeshwar is already in command and he is 2-0 to the good.

17:16 Yogeshwar Dutt of India in action against Canada's James Mancini in the final of the men's wrestling 60kg category (freestyle).

17:14 Rodionova broke Sania first up and is now up a break 2-1 in the first set. But Sania's powerful groundstrokes from the back is already causing problems.

17:10 Canada's Benoit Huot wins gold in the 100 mtr freestyle S10 category. Canada have been relatively quiet so far in the pool.

17:08 The women's final between Mirza and Rodionova has started. Watch this space.

Gagan Narang, earlier on Saturday, won his fourth gold of these games. > Here's a report.

The Dr Karni Singh shooting range has been India's gold hunting range for most of this week. But even the foreigners like the place - nay.. love the place. >Read on.. You know you want to .

17:00 There's going to be a bronze medal match between India's Mahesh Bhupathi and Leader Paes vs Somdev Devvarman sometime later in the day.

Are you one of the those sports fans who like to be informed of all the happenings? If yes, Australia have closed the day at 285-5 with India claiming the all important wicket of Ponting before stumps. In other news, Lewis Hamilton has been slapped a five-grid penalty for a gear-box change. Make a date for Suzuka tomorrow morning because it's going to be a cracker.

16:50 And it's Scotland's H. Miley who leads with the final 50 to go. And Miley smashes the CWG record to win the gold. Australia and England win the silver and bronze respectively. Solid swimming from Miley who never really lost sight of the early leaders and then built a big lead before easing through.

16:47 It's started in the women's 400 mtr individual medley. Australia's S. Hamill leads after the fly.

16:41 England's North wins gold in women's singles trap event. Shreyasi, meanwhile, is clearly disappointed. S. Marshall of Scotland claims silver.

16:39 Some shooting action in the women's singles trap. Shreyasi Singh of India in action in the women's singles trap. And she is struggling. Anita North of England is in pole position to win the event.

16:34 England's Busby wins the gold in the men's compound archery (individual). A significant gold medal because, that, if i'm right, puts England in second place ahead of India.

16:32 Brenton Rickard - Australia - wins the gold in the men's 200 mtr breaststroke but Scotland's Michael Jamieson gave him one hell of a fright in the closing stages but the Australian just about held on. Australia's Springer gets the bronze. Great last 20-30 mtrs there when all the three medal were up for grabs.

16:28 Into our next final. The men's 200 mtr breaststroke. Needless to say the Aussies are in contention.

16:20 Is it the time of the Indian boxers to take to the stage? Manpreet Singh qualifies to the quarterfinals with ease.

16:18 Samoa's Faarae Faaululi wins gold in the men's weightlifting 94 kg category

16:16 Du Toit of South Africa takes the gold in the women's 100 mtr fly in the S9 category. That is Du Toit's third gold in these games. She just blitzed the field to a very comfortable gold. England finished just ahead of Australia to win the silver.

16:08 That was high quality. Schipper of Australia takes the gold in the 200 mtr fly but Lacroix of Canada finishes just behind to take the silver.

16:05 Some boxing action between India and tanzania in boxing. India leading 1-0 with the clock still in the first round.

16:05 Next up is the women's 200 mtr butterfly.

16:02 The first final is the men's 100 mtr freestyle. And Canada's Brent Hayden picks up his second gold of these games with a CWG record to boot. Schoeman and Lous of South Africa get the silver and bronze respectively.

16:00 Just moments before the start of the swimming finals.

Any cricket fans out there? Ponting is slowly but surely working his way to a reasonable score. Australia are 254-4 at the moment.

Hold on tight, or get a coffee while you can because in sometime all the action will start at the SP Mukherjee Swimming Complex - the last day of action in the pool.

Australia well ahead in first place while India and England involved in an almightly scramble for second and third places. Canada, who finished third in 2006, looks well off the pace in fourth place with a meagre 14 gold medals.

15:45 A quick look at the medals table

Australia - 48 (G), 26 (S), 28 (B)

India - 22 (G), 16 (S), 14 (B)

England 21 (G), 37 (S), 21 (B)

15:42 England have beaten New Zealand in the second semifinals of the men's compound (individual).

Apart from all the action in the pool, there are also nine finals on offer in the track and field events later this evening. Feeling excited, right?

Some juicy quotes from Indian gymnast Ashish Kumar (the first Indian to win bronze and silver in different categories in gymnastics at the international level). PTI has this report:

I think I could have won the gold had equipment arrived on time for the Commonwealth Games and the venue was also ready on time. Then we could have got the home advantage which we certainly lost out,” said the 19-year-old.

Gymnastics Federation of India (GFI) President also added that had the gymnasts got the apparatus in March as they were promised earlier, they might have performed better.

“We could have got better results had the equipment arrived on time in March,” said Khandhari.

15:27 India have beaten Seychelles 21-8, 21-14. Comfortable from start to finish but surely stiffer tests in the future.

15:22 Immediately got some Indian badminton action for fans. India are up a set against Seychelles in a mixed-doubles action.

From an Indian perspective, Sania Mirza is in action in her gold medal match. The Indian wrestlers are also in with a shout to win some medals. Right.. let's get cracking. Oh, and want to read up on what happened till now? >Please go here....

The swimmers have reached the fag end of the journey - yes, that's right. Today is the last and final day of action in the pool. Watch out for Australia - who else?
