Sprinter Amiya Kumar Mallick is all set to fly to Kingston, Jamaica for a four-month long training with Usain Bolt’s coach Glen Mills.

“The Orissa Olympic Association (OCA) has taken the initiative and I will leave for Jamaica on January 12,” said the 21-year-old at an India Oil open media session here on Monday.

Mallick would be training at the Racers Track Club where the likes of Bolt and Yohan Blake have been coached by Mills.

Mallick could not confirm if the OCA had taken permission from the Athletics Federation of India (AFI), but AFI President Adille Sumariwala said: “It’s a good thing; anyone wanting to spend his own money for development is welcome, but neither am I aware of it, nor do I think the AFI knows about it.”

Mallick won the 200m gold at the 53rd National Open athletics championship at Ranchi’s Birsa Munda stadium last September.

He clocked 21.11 seconds. His immediate focus is on this year’s Commonwealth and Asian Games.
