Air India boys, AP girls triumph

Air India defeated Chhattisgarh 2-1 in the boys’ final while Andhra Pradesh beat West Bengal 2-1 in the girls’ title clash in the 33rd National junior badminton championship in Imphal on Tuesday.

The results:

Boys: Final: Air India bt Chhattisgarh 2-1 (Pratul Joshi bt Shreyansh Jaiswal 21-12, 11-9 retd.; G. Gopal Raju/ Aditya Joshi lost to Shreyansh/ Sanyam Shukla 21-16, 15-21, 14-21; Aditya Joshi bt Sanyam Shukla 21-14, 15-21, 21-17).

Semifinals: Air India bt West Bengal 2-0 (Pratul Joshi bt Pallab Bose 21-15, 21-9; Harsheel Dani/ Pratul Joshi bt Pallab/ Trinankur Nag 21-12, 21-23, 21-16); Chhattisgarh bt Kerala 2-1 (Shreyansh bt Muhammed Munavar 19-21, 21-16, 28-26; Shreyansh/ Sanyam bt Arun George/ Pranav Satheesh 21-18, 8-21, 21-13).

Quarterfinals: West Bengal bt Chandigarh 2-1; Kerala bt Assam 2-1; Chhattisgarh bt Manipur 2-1.

Girls: Final: Andhra Pradesh bt West Bengal 2-1 (J. Meghna lost to Rituparna Das 11-21, 2-5 retd., Meghana/ K. Maneesha bt Rituparna Das/ Anuriya Das 21-15, 21-11; G. Ruthvika Shivani bt Riya Mukerjee 21-13, 21-9) .

Semifinals: AP bt Kerala 2-0 (Ruthvika bt Agna Anto 21-10, 21-16; Meghana/ Maneesha bt J.K. Malavika/ Agna Anto 21-16, 21-16); WB bt Maharashtra 2-0 (Rituparna Das bt Rasika Raje 23-21, 21-18; Rituparna/ Anuriya Das bt Rasika/ Karishma Wadkar 21-16, 21-12).
