Seremban (Negeri Sembilan): Abhay Singh and Sunayna Kuruvilla advanced to the semifinals of the Malaysian Tour leg 2018, a PSA World Tour event here on Wednesday.
Seeded three, Abhay had two tough rounds before reaching the last four. He beat Naoki Hayashi of Japan 7-11, 14-12, 11-8, 11-4 for the quarterfinal entry and then downed fifth seed Darren Rahul of Malaysia 10-12, 11-7, 6-11, 11-9, 11-7.
Sunayna’s first-round opponent was Jelena Dutina of Serbia, whom she beat 11-2, 11-2, 11-2 and in the quarterfinals, the Indian sent out the second seed Jemyca Aribado of the Philippines 11-4, 8-11, 13-11, 11-6.
