Robert Kubica will drive for Formula One team Renault from 2010.
The 24-year-old Polish driver will replace Ferrari-bound Fernando Alonso and partner Romain Grosjean of France.
Terms of the deal and the length of the contract were not released.
Kubica said: “I have a special connection with this team because in 2005 I won the World Series by Renault. This gave me the chance to test with the team ... which led to my debut in Formula One.”
Kubica, who has driven for BMW Sauber since 2006, was a contender for last year’s F1 championship.
BMW Sauber announced it was abandoning the sport at the end of the current season.
