Jorge Lorenzo of Spain overtook Dani Pedrosa on the last lap to win the Spanish Grand Prix on Sunday and take the lead in the overall championship standings.

Lorenzo claimed his sixth MotoGP victory after a late charge which saw him rise through the field, overtaking Casey Stoner, Valentino Rossi and finally Pedrosa.

Defending champion Rossi finished third, with Nicky Hayden fourth and Ducati teammate Stoner slipping to fifth.
