Hat-trick by Divakar
R. Divakar got a hat-trick and ended with figures of seven for seven as Thiruvallur DCA beat Pudukkottai DCA by nine wickets in the P.R. Thevar inter-district under-16 cricket tournament here.
Thiruvallur advanced to the next stage.
At Madurai, Kancheepuram defeated Madurai by 13 runs to qualify for the next stage.
The scores: At Chennai: Pudukkottai DCA 25 in 8.3 overs (R. Divakar seven for seven) lost to Thiruvallur DCA 28 for one in 2.2 overs.
Perambalur 96 in 34.2 overs (T. Kesava Raj five for 40) lost to Krishnagiri 97 for no loss in 16.4 overs (M. Suriyah 36 not out, R. Sonu Yadav 28 not out). Thiruvallur and Krishnagiri qualify.
At Madurai: Kancheepuram 182 for seven in 50 overs (Mukilesh 58, Swaminathan 28, Sheshadri 28, T. Ayyanar three for 17) bt Madurai 169 for six in 50 overs (Mohammed Fiyash Khan 52 n.o., T. Ayyanar 38). Kancheepuram qualifies .
Kunal makes main draw
Kunal Anand of India overcame a one-set deficit to beat Gregory Howe of Great Britain 1-6, 7-5, 6-2 in the third and final qualifying round at the Indian Oil Servo ITF men’s Futures tennis championships here. The main draw is scheduled to start on Monday.
