Son Heung-min scored in the sixth minute of injury time on Tuesday to give South Korea a 2-1 win over Qatar in the football World Cup qualifying match.

Lee Keun-ho, the 2012 Asian Player of the Year, headed in the first goal in the 60th minute, but Khalfan Ibrahim equalized for Qatar with a low shot from the edge of the area three minutes later.

With this victory South Korea has 10 points from five games, while Qatar has seven points from its six matches.

Brett Holman’s 85-minute equalizer helped Australia save a 2-2 draw against Oman on Tuesday, and narrowly avoid a shocking upset in an Asian qualifier for the 2014 World Cup.

Tim Cahill again proved to be Australia’s talisman with a powerful headed goal in the 51st to keep the hosts in the contest, but a string of fine saves by Oman’s goalkeeper Ali Al Habsi, who plays for Wigan, kept the Socceroos from finding the winner.

Australia and Oman have six points each in Group B and are seven points behind runaway leader Japan, which was playing away to Jordan (four points) later on Tuesday.
