TN squad for Santosh Trophy named

The Tamil Nadu squad for the Santosh Trophy final round, to be held at Nagpur from February 29 to March 13, was announced here on Thursday.

N. Mohanraj, who is on duty for Mumbai FC in the ongoing I-league, and S. Karthick miss out from the 20-member squad featured in the South Zone qualifiers. Mohanraj has been replaced as captain by defender N. Kali Alauddin.

Midfielders Vikram Patil and Finu Favaz are the new additions while defender Vineesh Mouveri and striker Sarath Raj have been accommodated as reserve players.

Varun Manian, managing director, Radiance Realty Developers India Ltd, unveiled the team jersey and wished the team good luck.

“I sincerely wish the coach and the new captain all success,” he said.

Tamil Nadu which is in Group-B will play Assam, Goa, West Bengal and Punjab.

The squad will leave for the event on February 27.

The squad:

Goalkeepers: T. Sounesh; A. Arun Pradeep; K. Sachidanandam.

Defenders: D. Joffin; Wayne D’Silva; Satish; S. Santhosh Kumar; K. Prem; N. Kali Alauddin.

Midfielders: Vikram Patil; Finu Favaz; H. Edwin Sydney Vanspaul; A. Sajan; J. Britto; M. Soosai Raj; M. Pradeep; C. Sirajudeen.

Forwards: A. Raegan; Praveendran; H. Ameerudeen.

Reserve players: Vineesh Mouveri; Sarath Raj.

Coach: Robin Charles Raja.

Assistant coach: Aldroy Atkinson.

Final round groupings: A: Services, Mizoram, Jammu & Kashmir, Railways and Maharashtra.

B: Punjab, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Assam, Goa.
