Fourth-placed Liverpool was stung by a 1-0 defeat at Premier League basement side Swansea City which withstood a second-half onslaught to secure the points after taking the lead through defender Alfie Mawson on Monday.

Meanwhile in Serie A, Brazilian Douglas Costa scored the only goal as champion Juventus kept in hot pursuit of leader Napoli with a 1-0 win against Genoa on Monday.

The results :

Premier League : Swansea 1 (Mawson 40) bt Liverpool 0.

La Liga : Eibar 1 (Kike 75) drew with Malaga 1 (En-Nesyri 16)

Serie A : Juventus 1 (Costa 16) bt Genoa 0 .
