Mohammedan Sporting Club was compelled to withdraw its case against the decision of the All India Football Federation permitting Australian striker Tolgay Ozbey to switch mid-season to Dempo SC.
The cheques given to Ozbey by Mohammedan Sporting Club were dishonoured, and the AIFF decided to allow Ozbey to turn out for the Goa club, said AIFF’s lawyer Ushanath Banerjee.
The AIFF lawyers argued that the Mohammedan Sporting writ was not maintainable and the petition legally non-existent. Justice Dipankar Datt observed that unless the writ is withdrawn, it would be dismissed.
The AIFF executive committee on Wednesday also rejected an appeal from Mohammedan Sporting in this regard as it was filed long after the mandatory period of three days and after completion of I-League.
