The official ball and the Tamil Nadu team jersey for the South Zone Santosh Trophy qualifiers starting here on Tuesday were unveiled at the Madras Gymkhana Club on Sunday.
Tournament sponsor and prominent industrialist Varun Manian and Rohit Ramesh, president of the Chennai City Football Club, did the honours.
Team captain Mohanraj and midfielder Pradeep, accompanied by head coach Robin Charles Raja, received the jersey and ball.
The event had a special invitee in M. Jagan Seshadri, a retired D.G.P.
Team can do betterSpeaking on the occasion, Rohit said, “With experienced coaching staff and players, I think the team stands a good chance in the competition. I believe that the team can do better this time.”
Jagan highlighted the State’s remarkable history in football and said that it was heart-warming to see a lot of sponsors pitching in. “The State has always been producing talented players. This team has been very hard-working. Also, I’m glad to see more sponsors coming in.”
Varun presented a cheque for Rs. 5 lakh to the Tamil Nadu Football Association. Cosco India Ltd. is the team’s kit sponsor.
