A resurgent Prayag United SC thrashed Pailan Arrows 4-1 in the 24th round of the I-League at the Kalyani Stadium on Friday.
New Zealand striker Kayne Vincent struck twice while Nigerian Ranti Martins and Mohammad Rafiq found the target once. Pronay Halder scored a penalty in the injury time to reduce the margin.
Ranti Martins gave United the lead in the 22nd minute when he fired home after getting the ball from a goalmouth melee.
United SC maintained the pressure and doubled its lead through Vincent in the first-half injury-time. The Kiwi striker struck a nice angular shot after he was released in the box by a superb through ball from Rafiq.
United SC continued to dominate in the second half and enhanced the lead (3-0) in the 55th minute when Vincent struck his second off a nice half turn to send a Dhanchandra Singh pass home.
The Arrows defence looked in utter disarray as United SC made repeated raids from the flanks. Rafiq made it 4-0 three minutes later when he received the ball from Vincent and finished it with a nice angular punch.
Arrows earned a penalty in the injury-time when Pronay Halder was brought down inside the United SC box by Rafiq.
