Karim Bencherifa, the Moroccan coach of Salgaocar, is likely to rejoin Mohun Bagan after leaving the club more than two years ago.
The Bagan officials are keen to go back to Bencherifa, who piloted his current club in Goa to unprecedented success in the previous season, after terminating the services of Santosh Kashyap hardly five days ago.
The club tried seven coaches after Bencherifa’s departure in early 2010 before renewing its bid for the Moroccan after a bad start to the current season.
Bagan bagged its last major title under Bencherifa and the club is looking to end two seasons of title drought.
The Bagan officials, who are said to have visited Goa to get Karim’s consent, are confident that he would rejoin the club.
The official announcement is likely to be made on Friday.
