Manchester City cuts gap on leaders Chelsea

Manchester City played 80 minutes with 10 men as they won 2-0 at Hull City on Saturday to maintain their push for the Premier League title.

David Silva’s goal — after captain Vincent Kompany had been sent off on 10 minutes — put City in front and Edin Dzeko sealed victory in the last minute.

Kompany was sent off for a last-ditch challenge on Nikica Jelavic but Silva scored the crucial goal with a brilliant strike just four minutes later.

And as Hull searched for an equaliser, City secured the win when Dzeko slammed in a second late on.

The result moved Manuel Pellegrini’s side above Liverpool into second, six points behind leaders Chelsea, but with two games in hand.
