Italy’s defender Giorgio Chiellini has been left out of the upcoming friendly between Italy and Brazil, team doctor Enrico Castellacci confirmed.
The Juventus defender left Italy training camp on Wednesday after being examined by the Azzurri’s medical staff, reports Xinhua.
“As promised, we looked at Chiellini’s problem again today,” Castellacci said and found not optimistic about his fitness.
“We already knew that Chiellini wouldn’t be able to play Brazil on Thursday, while we hoped he could be ready for Malta on Tuesday. Both his ankles are swollen and returned home to continue the treatment. He twisted his left ankle, but he’s also struggling with his right one,” Castellacci added.
