Indian Bank produced a flawless performance as it beat Arrows FC 3-0 to go on top of the standings in the St. Joesph’s-CFA senior division football league here on Friday.

Right from the start Indian Bank looked on the money as it pressed forward with a plan unlike Arrows which relied on long balls with little accuracy.

Jude Felia set up the first goal for J.D. Romario with a throw-in at the half-hour mark.

Within the next 10 minutes, two more goals followed as Indian Bank made short work of a clueless defence.

Left-back T. Sasi Kumar sent in a perfect cross for Oletju Joseph Abhi, who was, however, fouled inside the box. Abhi duly converted from the spot to double the lead. Soon Abhi netted the third when he headed home from a corner.

Sasi Kumar, who was adjudged man of the match, was once again in action with a beautiful pass only for S. Prasanth to fumble an easy chance just before the break.

With this win, Indian Bank now has seven points from its three games while four teams are tied second with six points, with only Viva Chennai having played one game less.

Earlier, just before kickoff, a minute’s silence was observed in memory of Dutch football legend Johan Cruyff who died on Thursday.

The results:

Senior division: Indian Bank 3 (J.D. Romario 30, Oletju Joseph Abhi 37, 42) bt Arrows 0.

First division: SAI 1 (D. Ganesamurthy 77) bt Tamil Nadu Police 0.
