Chennai City FC confirmed the transfer of its player S. Nandhakumar to Delhi Dynamos following a successful stint in the initial loan.

Nandha was loaned from Chennai City FC to Delhi Dynamos, competing in the Indian Super League, in October.

Following his impressive performances notably against Chennaiyin FC and Bengaluru FC and being awarded the Emerging player of the match awards for both games, Dynamos and Chennai City agreed to make the move permanent for the 21-year-old winger.

According to sources, the money paid to make the transfer permanent cost the Dynamos ₹23,00,000, which would make this the most expensive transfer fee for an Indian footballer.

Nandha, the release said on Wednesday, has signed a two and half year contract with Dynamos following the agreement of transfer between the clubs, which shall remain undisclosed.

Rohit Ramesh, President of Chennai City, said, “Our main focus has always been the betterment of the players and giving them chances to improve their careers. Nandha expressed to us his desire and the fact that he had an attractive offer from Dynamos. We were able to agree a transfer fee with the corresponding club to felicitate the transfer at the earliest. We will definitely reinvest this money in the club and the development of further talent for the future.”

Miguel Angel Portugal, Head coach of Dynamos heaped praise on Nandha. “He has impressed us all with the effort he puts in training day-in-day-out. He is a quick learner and is someone who fits in perfectly well into my style of play here at Dynamos.”

Nandha, an India u-23 winger, sounded ecstatic with the move, “I am delighted to have signed a permanent deal with Delhi Dynamos. The club and coach Portugal had believed in me and my game has gone from strength to strength over the past few months. I am hoping to give my best not just this season but in the coming seasons as well.”
