Complaint against Churchill

Chennai City FC has filed an official complaint with the All India Football Federation, accusing Churchill Brothers of vandalising the away dressing room at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai, after the team’s I-League match on Feb. 14.

AIFF confirmed that it had received a complaint and was looking into the matter. “We found the taps and the flush in washroom broken after the match. There is no way someone else could have done that because only the away team had access to the area,” said the team’s secretary Vikram Murali.

“We spoke to stadium authorities about the damage and they gave us an estimate of Rs. 40,000. We have claimed compensation through the AIFF,” added Murali.

“We have already sent a show-cause notice to Churchill and are awaiting their reply,” said Akshay Rohatgi, senior manager, I-League Operations and Club Licensing.

Churchill has rubbished the allegations and its team manager Denzil Ferrao said “Our players were not involved. We will reply to the AIFF.”
