July 04, 2012 03:34 pm | Updated 03:34 pm IST - CHENNAI:

Women’s world No. 15 and India’s top squash player, Dipika Pallikal, was felicitated at a function organised by the Rotary Club of Madras Central here on Monday. She was awarded the ‘Vocational Excellence Award’.

The chief guest for the occasion was R. Nataraj, Chairman, Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission.

The 20-year-old Dipika, said she felt honoured as squash players rarely got recognition in a cricket-crazy nation. She added that she was disappointed that squash was not going to figure in this year’s London Olympics, and hoped to play at the 2020 Olympics.

The reigning national champion will next be seen in action at the Australian Open in August.
