Members of the victorious Chennai Super Kings team landed at the Kamaraj Domestic Terminal here on Monday to a cluster of fans awaiting their arrival.
The team, which won IPL-3 beating Mumbai Indians in the final on Sunday, arrived at 5.10 p.m. aboard a Jet Airways flight from Mumbai and emerged from the airport at 5.30 p.m.
Team Manager Russell Radhakrishnan, cradling the trophy and the first to be spotted in a clump of camerapersons, hurried the yellow gang through a sea of security as sloganeering supporters hung around for a closer glimpse.
Those observed inching their way to the team bus included coach Stephen Fleming, ‘man mountain' Mathew Hayden, spin sensation R. Ashwin, medium-pacer L. Balaji, S. Anirudha and S. Badrinath.
“I'm not in a position to talk,' was all Ashwin could manage, when accosted by the press, before he joined his teammates into the swank Volvo parked at a close distance.
Skipper M.S. Dhoni and opener M. Vijay were not a part of the arriving contingent.
