Opener Kusal Perera hit his maiden century as Sri Lanka beat Bangladesh by six wickets to sweep the one-day series 3-0 on Saturday.

Sri Lanka scored 246-4 in reply to Bangladesh’s 240-8 with captain Angelo Mathews smashing a six over mid-wicket off Naeem Islam to complete the third ODI victory at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.

Perera made 106 off 124 balls, including five sixes. He added 138 runs with Dinesh Chandimal, who scored 64 off 70.

Missing senior players Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardene and Tilkaratne Dilshan, Perera guided his team with a near perfect innings.

Rubel Hossain finally bowled Perera but by then Sri Lanka’s victory was all but ensured.

Earlier, Sri Lanka won the toss and made Bangladesh bat. Mominul Haque hit a run-a-ball 60 to steer Bangladesh to 240-8. Nasir Hossain scored 38 while Naeem Islam made 32.

Captain Mushfiqur Rahim was the other notable scorer with 30 and Sohag Gazi hit an aggressive 23 off 13 balls, including three sixes, helping Bangladesh to its highest total in the series.

Dhammika Prasad claimed 3-49 while Suranga Lakmal ended with 2-24.

During his maiden half-century, Haque added 46 with Rahim. On a slow surface, Haque played with controlled aggression and smashed eight boundaries. But casual running between the wicket caused his downfall as Kithuruwan Vithanage made a direct throw from square leg to hit the stumps.
