Virender Sehwag and Yuvraj Singh’s return will strengthen the Indian squad against the formidable Australians in the seven-match one-day series, chairman of national selection panel Krishnamachari Srikkanth said.
Sehwag and Yuvraj missed the Champions Trophy in South Africa due to injuries.
“I am happy that we have named a balanced squad. Sehwag and Yuvraj have returned to the squad. They will strengthen the squad.
“For the last few years we have been doing well in bilateral series. I am confident that the team will do well against Australia,” Srikkanth said after the selection committee meeting
Yuvraj, who is still recuperating from a fractured finger, was included in the squad with the hope that he will be completely fit by October 28 for the second one-dayer in Nagpur and might as well be available for the first one-dayer on October 25 in Vadodara.
Sehwag has already recovered from his shoulder injury and is currently playing in the Champions League Twenty20.
