Ranji Trophy: Uttar Pradesh versus Bengal match called off

January 23, 2015 07:21 pm | Updated 07:47 pm IST - GHAZIABAD:

For the second day in a row, the Ranji Trophy Group A encounter between Uttar Pradesh and Bengal was called off without a ball being bowled. There was no rain on Friday and the sun was out but it was not bright enough to dry the soft outfield.

As the Mohan Meakins Cricket Stadium doesn’t possess a drainage facility, the ground conditions could not be improved to the umpires’ satisfaction.

After an inspection at 3 p.m., the officials decided to call it a day. The bowlers’ run-up and boundary areas were in particularly poor state.

If play begins on the final day, Bengal will resume on 141 for four in its first innings.
