The local cricket fans are keen to watch Mumbai Indians in action in the CLT20 match against Otago Volts here on Monday. The IPL-6 winner has chosen the Motera ground as its home venue and even practiced here for five days before its first match against Rajasthan Royals at Jaipur on Saturday.
MI plays the qualifier Volts in the 8 p.m. match. After the seven-wicket defeat against the Royals, the Rohit Sharma-led MI will be keen to get the better of Volts. But the qualifier from New Zealand is high on confidence.
“We won three domestic games in a row in the qualifier to get here and won three qualifying games here (at Mohali) as well. The four teams in our pool are tough, but we don’t feel like underdogs. We feel we are good enough to match these teams; whether that means winning or not is a different story” said Volts’ Ryan Ten Doeschate.
“I feel MI has got the strongest set of Indian players, but it will be under pressure. If they lose their first two games it is going to be tough for them to make it through the groups, but for us there is a subconscious confidence from winning and knowing how to win,’’ he added.
