July 15, 2010 06:26 pm | Updated 06:27 pm IST - LONDON

Australia went into lunch on the third day of the first Test against Pakistan at Lord’s on 188-5, with Simon Katich closing in on his 11th century and the team extending its lead to 293 runs.

Left-handed opener Katich resumed on 49 and was unbeaten on 83 at the interval, having made his fourth consecutive innings of 50 or more. He is averaging more than 90 this year.

Marcus North was with him at the crease on 20, with night-watchman Mitchell Johnson (30) the only wicket to fall in the morning session when he was bowled by Umar Gul (3-20).

Johnson frustrated Pakistan for an hour on Thursday and hit five fours in his 54-ball knock.
