After three losses in a row in the current IPL, the Mumbai Indians squad was present at an event where the focus shifted from team performances to a gutsy stage show by under-privileged children.
Harbhajan Singh mixed with the little ones, Lasith Malinga bowled on a small pitch set up on the terrace of a city mall and Kieron Pollard posed for pictures with tiny tots.
The Reliance Foundation-organised project ‘Education For All’ (EFA) had MI skipper Rohit Sharma and teammates in attendance. “We lead a secure life, not realising how lucky we are,” Rohit said, complimenting the project to provide education for the less-fortunate children.
Quizzed about MI’s performance this season, he said: “In such situations, it is about confidence and giving space to the players to regain that feeling.”
The EFA initiative, driven by franchise owner Nita Ambani, has touched the lives of numerous children from lesser fortunate sections of society for the last five years.
