ICC reinstates Kotla as international venue

The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday finally lifted its suspension and reinstated the Feroz Shah Kotla as an international venue.

After an inspection on Monday by Andy Atkinson, its pitch consultant, the world cricket authority decided to revoke the Kotla ground’s suspension. The venue can now host World Cup matches.

The venue was suspended as an international ground when the one-day International between India and Sri Lanka in December had to be abandoned because of unplayable pitch.

“We are pleased with the remedial work carried out and with the playing surfaces now back to the standard expected for international matches. The Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium will be reinstated as an international venue from January 1,” said David Richardson, ICC general manager cricket.
