Heat and Titans aim for first win

September 24, 2013 12:44 am | Updated June 02, 2016 02:32 pm IST - MOHALI:

In different matches at the same venue in Ranchi, Brisbane Heat failed to chase a modest 135, while Titans could not defend a formidable 185 on Sunday. When the two meet in a Champions League T20 group B contest at the PCA Stadium here on Tuesday, they will hope to excel in dissimilar conditions against a new set of challenges.

Brisbane Heat, which was bowled out for just 110 against Trinidad and Tobago, suffered as none of its batsmen complemented Joe Burns’ lone effort of 45.

The team, which was without some of its top players — Shane Watson, Mitchell Johnson, Thisara Perera and Luke Pomersbach — due to various reasons, perhaps lacked the experience in handling the pressure.

However, its bowlers led by Alister McDermott’s four-wicket haul, gave the team some relief with their decent performances.

The Big Bash League champion will look forward to pulling up its socks against Titans, which will be more determined after their loss against Chennai Super Kings in a high-scoring affair.

Dew factor

Titans’ bowlers really struggled against CSK because of the dew factor in Ranchi. However, they will be happy to know that the problem is yet to surface in Mohali.

Besides, they will try to bowl tight lines after conceding 24 wides in the opening match.

Titans skipper Henry Davids and A.B. de Villiers, who scored useful half-centuries, will be keen to repeat their acts in a winning cause this time.
