CSK's Deepak Chahar celebrates with his teammates after claiming a wicket during the IPL match against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Hyderabad on Sunday.

Deepak Chahar, bowling hero of Chennai Super Kings exciting win over Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL match, said here on Sunday winning close matches actually helped up the team’s confidence level.

“We take pride in these close finishes and feel better. The reason why we keep winning such matches is we have Dhoni as captain. His advice during the huddles, when Kane and Yusuf were batting, was not to bowl to their strengths, stick to a good line and length and stay cool,” Chahar said after the match.

“I enjoyed bowling on this wicket which had bounce and swing and I am pleased with my performance,” he said.

Chahar said the CSK’s younger players were learning a lot from the vastly experienced seniors. “You can see from the attitude of the team on the field that we are like one family,” he said.

On the assault on Sunrisers leggie Rashid Khan, Chahar said it was more of a compulsion than a strategy.

Sunrisers captain Kane Williamson, meanwhile, said there were a lot of positives even from the defeat.

“The start was not good but we had a very good partnership in the middle. It was obvious that CSK posted a very challenging total. Disappointed that having come close, we couldn't cross the line,” he said.

Referring to the bowlers being expensive in the death overs, Williamson said it was only a question of adaptability to different surfaces.

“We are a very good bowling side and there is no serious concern. Bhuvi (Bhuvaneswar Kumar) had a stiff back. That was why he was given short spells,” he added.

The Sunrisers captain complimented Rayudu for playing an outstanding knock to put the pressure back on his team after the bowlers had done a very good job in the first 10 overs.
