Discus thrower Vikas Gowda finished sixth with an effort of 63.67m in the Ivo van Damme memorial meet, the final leg of the Diamond League series, in Brussels on Friday.
Gowda, who finished eighth in the London Olympics (64.79m) opened with 63.67, but could not improve upon it in the rest of the rounds. He had throws of 61.69 and 62.61 apart from three fouls. He had come third in the New York Diamond League meet with 64.86m in June last.
Olympic bronze medallist Gerd Kanter of Estonia won the title, and with that the Diamond Trophy worth $40,000, with a throw of 66.84m. It was the third Diamond League victory for the 33-year-old Estonian who compiled 19 points in the series.
Martin Wierig of Germany, an Olympic finalist, was second with 66.05m, while former Olympic and world champion Virgilijus Alekna of Lithuania took the third place with 65.78.
Gowda, with 64.06m, had finished fourth in an international meet in Zagreb, on Tuesday last.
