The first day of the A.L. Mudaliar Silver Jubilee commemorative athletic championship saw two new meet records being established in the men's 400m hurdles and triple jump disciplines, at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here on Wednesday.
In the morning session, Yogesh of JHA Agarsen shaved 0.2 seconds off the previous meet record in the 400m hurdles, clocking 53.4s. Later, when the triple jump event got underway, J. Surender (Loyola) leapt to the second meet record of the day in his last jump, when he registered 15.52m.
Loyola dominated the day in the men's division while M.O.P. Vaishnav surged up the points table in the women's category, at the end of day one of the three-day meet.
