Three athletes including discus thrower Kripal Singh were on Monday suspended for two years by the National Anti-Doping Disciplinary panel (NADDP) for doping offences reported during competitions.
Kripal Singh, who won the title at the Federation Cup athletics championships at Patiala last April, had tested positive for steroid stanozolol. A promising junior who turned 20 last May, Kripal had represented the country in the World junior championships in 2010 and the World Universiade last year.
Kripal had won the silver in the National Games in Ranchi last February. He pleaded guilty before a panel headed by Rajeev Kapoor and sought leniency. His suspension will begin from May 9 last, the date of his provisional suspension.
The other two athletes suspended were high hurdler Arvinda Rathwa, who had won the title at the last all-India Police championships here in March this year, and shot putter Deepak Choudhary, who finished third in the Federation Cup junior championships at Pune in May last.
Rathwa tested positive for testosterone while Choudhary tested positive for metabolite of another steroid, methandienone. Rathwa and Choudhary also admitted their guilt.
