Natalya Antyukh of Russia held off a late lunge from Lashinda Demus to claim Olympic 400m hurdles gold at the London Olympics.
Antyukh sank onto her knees in tears after crossing the line in a personal best of 52.70 seconds. The world champion Demus fell just short of a second major title with silver in 52.77.
Bronze went to Czech Zuzana Hejnova while Jamaican Kaliese Spencer came fourth as at the last two world championships.
