The new Apple iPod nano is shown after an Apple event in San Francisco, Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2009. It features a built-in video camera, sound recording and speaker. Analysts feel that Apple has intentions of taking on another popular consumer gadget the Flip Mino, recently acquired by Cisco.
The new iPod Nano has also been aggressively priced by Apple. The 16 GB version will retail at US $ 179.
Apple CEO Steve Jobs, who appeared at the event after his liver transplant, also introduced the new iTunes 9 that will be packaged with the Nano.
It was Steve Jobs first product appearance for Apple since October last. He had bowed out of an appearance scheduled for January and went on a 6-month medical leave.
Technology analysts have said that Apple had reasonably met the expectations with its announcements. There were some wild speculations from fans though that did not quite work out - including one about the company readying a pc tablet, the size of its iPod Touch.
