Facebook has made it simpler to announce same-sex marriages on the social networking site by rolling out two new icons, one showing two grooms and the other two brides.

Earlier, all marriage announcements on Facebook would be noted under the icon of a heterosexual bride-and-groom ‘cake topper’.

The new icons had a major debut over the weekend, after a pair of grooms appeared over the wedding announcement of Facebook co-founder Chris Hughes to his long-time boyfriend Sean Eldridge, The Los Angeles Times reports.

Almost 2,000 people, including Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, hit the like button on the announcement.
