An app for manufacturing

Wipro Technologies, global IT and outsourcing firm, announced the launch of a mobility app designed for the manufacturing sector.

Wipro m-eXecute is the first ever mobility app for the manufacturing sector, developed in collaboration with SAP and caters to the niche space of manufacturing operations, a press release from Wipro stated. This app uses a proprietary solution for Apple users developed by SAP. The release added that the solution is built on a Sybase Unwired Platform. “Wipro m-eXecute is based on two principles, faster decision making and timely execution of transactions, and we have found that these are the two most important objectives for any manufacturer,” said N.S. Bala, senior vice-president and global head – manufacturing and hi-tech, Wipro Technologies.

Digital commerce solution

Tech major Infosys Ltd. announced that its Finacle Digital Commerce Solution will power agency banking for Standard Bank and help the bank extend service channels across its markets in Africa. This new alternate channel for the bank would offer value-added financial services to consumers in Africa, while also reducing cost of operations, a release from Infosys stated.

Haragopal Mangipudi, global head of Finacle, Infosys, said: “We aim to accelerate innovation for financial institutions, telecom providers and retailers. We believe there is a growing market for payments, and cost-effective agency services, driven by access to digital channels.” Finacle's tech portfolio includes digital wallet management, a payments framework, managing the business ecosystem, among others.

Zensar's new development hub

IT and business process outsourcing firm Zensar Technologies launched a development hub in Bangalore. The centre would focus on technology and solutions related to the cloud, social media and mobility.

A release from Zensar stated that this new facility would deliver next generation solutions and services to existing clients across the globe and deliver high-end solution driven business roles as well.

Vice-chairman and Chief Executive Officer Ganesh Natarajan said in a release: “The Bangalore centre will be an innovation hub for supporting our global clients. The centre will also integrate with other delivery centres to create a global sourcing model that offers flexible and best-in-class solutions for creating next generation enterprises.” The global company already has centres in Pune and Hyderabad.

Airtel joins hands with Opera Software

Leading telecom player Bharti Airtel announced that it has signed a global arrangement with Opera Software to offer a customised and co-branded version of Opera Mini Internet browser for Airtel mobile customers across its operations.

Designed for speed and ease of use, Open Source browser for the mobile environment Opera Mini provides remarkably fast browsing on nearly any mobile phone, a release from Airtel stated. “Our primary drive is to provide the best user experience, no matter what device people use. There are millions of users with basic mobile phones instead of smartphones, and Opera Mini gives even the most basic phone a smartphone-like Web experience,” said Lars Boilesen, Chief Executive Officer, Opera Software.
