A T-shirt developed by scientists from the University of Laval in Canada can monitor the wearer's respiratory rate in real time and help in diagnosing respiratory diseases. It does not require any wires, electrodes or sensors attached to the user's body and allows free movement of the wearer. The data is not affected even when the user is lying down, sitting, standing, or moving around An antenna attached to the shirt near the chest region senses the increase in both thorax circumference and the volume of air in the lungs when the wearer breathes in or out. It can also be used to monitor people with asthma, sleep apnea and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
