A shot of caffeine is the best way to get rid of sleep during working hours, a research has shown.

People, who work unsocial hours or through the night may suffer a form of “jet lag” due to disruption of their body clock, reports express.co.uk.

They can become very sleepy and prone to mishaps. For some, such as lorry drivers or doctors, this can have serious consequences.

A study reviewed data from 13 trials where caffeine was given in coffee, “pep” pills or energy drinks to shift workers.

Participants taking coffee performed much better and at the same time their memory, attention, perception and reasoning also improved.
