To observe the “International Chef's Day”, budding chefs took out a rally spreading the message about the benefits of healthy foods for a healthy lifestyle and voicing their concerns about junk and oily foods.
Clad in traditional chef's uniform, with a hat, around 100 students, including girls, from the Department of Catering Science and Hotel Management of Sri Krishna Arts and Science College, took out a rally from V.K.K. Menon Road in Gandhipuram to VOC Park on Thursday morning.
The rally, flagged off by S. Ashok Kumar, Executive Chief, The Residency, in the presence of K. Palaniappan, Secretary of the college, passed through Balasundaram Road, Periyanaickenpalayam Road, Park Gate Road, and L.I.C Road to reach VOC Park.
Students held placards and banners, educating the public to eat a variety of nutrient-rich foods and called for developing the habit of eating organic foods. They also distributed pamphlets spreading the importance of healthy food and happy living and the need to avoid junk and oily food.
N.B. Pradeep Kumar, Head of the Department, said that the day was celebrated across the world on October 20.

A student said that with healthy eating habits among the children and the youth dwindling, the rally would focus on right eating habits from childhood, as it could reap benefits for a lifetime. The organisers called for reinforcing healthy living, healthy eating and healthy habits for a longer life as the population is fast growing.
