Crops institute, CII join hands to strengthen ties

City-based International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Topics (ICRISAT) and Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) have partnered to assist Indian entrepreneurs to strengthen ties with their African counterparts.

The two will be taking part in AgriBusiness Forum- 2010 to be organised at Kampala, Uganda from October 3 to 6.

ICRISAT will be responsible for the coordination of the Indian representation at the four-day event, while CII will mobilise its members to participate in the forum, a release from the research institute said here today.

“ICRISAT continues to champion public-private partnership in agricultural research for development. Though headquartered in India, our presence and work in Africa give us the platform and the opportunity to support and enhance South-South collaboration, which includes agri-business networking and partnership between Indian and African companies,” ICRISAT Director General William Der said.

The forum will have the theme `Food Security: A Business Opportunity’ Over 400 delegates from Africa, Europe, America and Asia are expected to take part in the event. These include representatives of private and public sector, international organisations, micro-financiers, investors, bankers, agriculturalists and NGOs.
