Water conservation

March 15, 2017 12:15 am | Updated 12:15 am IST

It is happy news that the long-forgotten “Kudimaramathu” project has been revived by the Tamil Nadu government — to desilt canals, lakes and other waterbodies in all districts, with the involvement of the local farming community. It would be better still if NGOs and welfare associations also joined in this effort to conserve every drop of rainwater if and when the sky opens up (Tamil Nadu, “Throwing a lifeline to waterbodies”, March 14).
