Transfer of officials

The Election Commission has every right to order the transfer of officials, based on inputs from various sources, including those from the Intelligence Bureau, to ensure a free and fair poll. Events in Tamil Nadu and West Bengal are two such cases that have been in the media limelight. Past and similar actions by the EC since independence, irrespective of the party in power at the Centre, often give the impression that such transfers are often resorted to on reportedly the orders of the powers that be in New Delhi to ensure their victory at the hustings. The truth will be out after the results are declared!
