Tiruvalluvar statue

It is a matter of great pride for every one of us that a statue of Tiruvalluvar is planned in Moscow, especially at a time when the Centre has proposed that India celebrate the poet’s birth anniversary across the country (“ >Russia keen on Tiruvalluvar statue ,” Dec. 1). The poet’s contribution should not be restricted to Tamil literature, since Tirukkural is secular in nature and has been translated into a number of languages including English, French, Arabic and Chinese. Aside from helping cultural exchanges, the Tirukkural will also promote global harmony and friendship.
