The Rahul interview

February 17, 2017 11:41 pm | Updated 11:41 pm IST

The interview with Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi shows that he has still a long way to go (“One man can’t run this country: Rahul Gandhi”, Feb.17). Examples of this can be seen in his skirting even the questions on taking over the presidentship of the party, dominance of one family rule, and the reasons for the party’s shrinking presence in Parliament. The only parts worth reading were his spirited stand in debunking the autocratic streak in the Prime Minister and his demonetisation misadventure. He has unwittingly shown his superficial acquaintance with the Vedas and the scriptures by saying that he read quite a lot “about” them.

Mr. Gandhi says that his party is democratic and that everyone has a say in it, while going on to add that having made Manmohan Singh the Prime Minister proves the fact that it’s not a one family-dominated party. If at all they had allowed the former Prime Minister to function with authority, there wouldn’t have been so many scams. We would have had development.
