Swansong?

This refers to the report, “Mark my words, Congress will be out of power till 2025: Modi” (Feb.11). Mr. Narendra Modi’s declaration that the coming general election would be a swan song for the Congress till 2025 need not be dismissed as bravado. He has captured the imagination of the people and is drawing in unprecedented crowds. The Congress party, on the other hand, seems tired and listless and unable to capitalise on its achievements. The electorate is yearning for change, and the time has come to give a new leader a chance.

Mr. Modi seems to be the only leader right now making sense to people as the response to his meetings/rallies across the country shows. The perception that he is a polarising force seems to be a myth if the crowds at his rallies are any indicator. It is unfortunate that the Congress is unable to rely on its equally talented leaders, who seem to have been relegated to the background.
