On IPL 8.0

Will cricket lovers, satiated with World Cup fare, have the enthusiasm to follow the eight teams in the IPL for 45 days? The answer is no. There is an overdose of T20 leagues around the world and the IPL is nowhere near what it was in the first few years — as rapidly falling TRPs every year show. For example, if one compares the opening ceremony with the ones held in the initial years, one is bound to notice a perceptible drop in quality. I often used to wait for weeks for the IPL to commence, but this year, the spark is missing. As a purist cricket fan, I feel the IPL will slowly lose its shine. The decline has probably begun.
